Name: Johannes Berkhof Quote: “Think not that i do not enjoy my job, fledgeling. The inflicting of pain upon others is one of the few pleasures left to me after all these centuries. One of the few things that provides a jolt big enough to provide enough of a stirring of my Blood. That said, there are better people to torture than you. You should apologize for wasting my time like this.” |
Priscus and Primogen of the Nosferatu, Johannes Berkhof is an Elder with a long history in the city. First emerging into the Requiem sometime during the 17th century, he has seen the city go from fabulous richest to prostitute and drugs capital of the world, a fact which others are surprised to learn, bothers him little. God will sort them out, he'd say. And that mentality represents his attitude to the Requiem more and more as well, now that the hardships and difficulties of the early nights of Kindred life seem but a distant and blurry memory: While no less fanatical in the persecution of heresy than he was centuries ago when it rears its ugly head, he is for the most part, content to let the Ancillae and Neonates run the covenant and city, whilst Elders like himself keep an eye on things from the shadows. His position as Grand-Inquisitor isn't the only one he's feared and known for; he's also the Regent of Necropolis, the underground series of chambers, tunnels, and rooms that make up the communal kingdom of the Haunts. He has a special place in his black dead heart for the Nosferatu that dwell within, and has on occasion even been known to say a kind word or two whilst in the Caldarium.
