Lukas Barhydt isn't much of a presence at Court or Mass, much to his relief, yet there's the occasional chatter about him behind his back. His strong ties, both through his Sire Johannes Berkhof and his faith, to the Lancea Sanctum, are an annoyance to ambitious young Neonates and Ancillae in the First Estate, who doubt he'll side with the Sanctified if, and when, the time comes for a regime change. More older members of the First Estate consider it only proper that he has the faith that he does, though they expect of him to perform his duties to the Invictus, first and foremost of all.

Though he is not likely to advance very far into the ranks of either Covenant, he has managed to be named Gaoler of the city, and in that position is responsible for maintaining the imprisoned state of Kindred criminals and enemies of the court. According to popular rumor, only Lukas knows where all the bodies in the city are buried, with plenty of torpid Kindred embedded into building foundations and walls.
